Both the State and County governments are responsible for elections in California

and our state has adopted many ways to make voting easy.  


Next Election: June 2, 2026: California Primary Election


  • The last day to register to vote for this election is May 18, 2026.
  • All California active registered voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot.


Who can register?

You have the right to vote if you are:

  • A United States citizen and a resident of California,
  • 18 years old or older on Election Day
  • NEW! 16-17 yo can vote for OUSD Board (in Oakland)
  • Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony, and
  • Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court
