LWV Bay Area plans a virtual two-part program on March 4:

Keynote: State Senator Scott Wiener 

Panel Discussion of Bay Area Equity Atlas, a comprehensive data support system to track the state of equity across the region and inform solutions for inclusive prosperity.  About Senator Weiner: Since taking office in 2016, he has worked tirelessly to make housing more abundant and affordable.  He has also worked to invest in transportation systems, increase access to healthcare, address climate change and the impacts of wildfires.   The Senator supports criminal justice system reform, reducing gun violence, reducing California’s high poverty rate, and safeguarding rights for all residents including immigrants and the LGBTQ community.

Senator Wiener has authored some 65 bills that have been signed into law. He co-authored SB 1, the largest transportation funding measure in state history, generating over $5 billion annually for road repairs and new investments in public transportation. The Senator is an environmental champion authoring numerous policies to help California transition to clean energy.

Senator Wiener strongly advocates for building new housing near public transportation and authored  housing-related legislation including SB 35 which was supported by LWV California.
