Declares a vacancy in the office of the mayor and the District 2 council office (effective 1/6/25).

Calls for a Special Municipal election on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, to fill the vacant offices.

Authorizes city clerk to take all actions necessary to hold special municipal election.

City Council President, Nikki Fortunato Bas, becomes interim Mayor of Oakland.

City Council President Pro Tempore, Dan Kalb, becomes acting Council President.

The nominations period for Mayoral and District 2 councilmember begins on Monday, 12/23/24, and scheduled to end on Friday, January 17, 2025.

Newly elected Councilmembers will be sworn in.

Since District 2 seat will be vacant, the 7 remaining councilmembers may adopt a motion by majority vote to appoint a person to serve as D2 councilmember until the 4/15/25 election.

City Council will elect its Council President and President Pro Tempore.

Elected Council President will serve as interim mayor until 4/15/25 mayoral election and the winner's swearing in.

President Pro Tempore will serve as the acting Council President.
