Leadership Oakland is a civic and professional development, networking, and leadership training program of the Oakland Chamber of Commerce.
Currently in its 33rd year, the program offers Oakland’s current and future leaders the opportunity to gain an in-depth knowledge of the role leadership plays in our city and prepares participants for roles on city commissions, non-profit boards, elected office, and greater community engagement.

SWFCenter is looking for volunteers to host 5 to 10 friends and/or family in their homes for a free screening of "A Rising Tide". The goal is to raise awareness about OUR ability to end homelessness – the screenings are free!
Your screening date should occur between July 25th and November 30th, 2024.
In addition to showing the film, our staff will bring coffee cake and facilitate an after-screening intimate discussion of A Rising Tide and the homeless issues it raises.

Mills College at Northeastern University invites the campus and local communities to join an event concerning critical issues on voting rights and nonpartisan activism. The evening will feature a panel discussion of the documentary “Rigged: The Voter Suppression Playbook,” which examines tactics of voter suppression during the 2016 election. Panelists are experts on voter suppression and strategies for protecting voter rights, and include representatives from the League of Women Voters of Oakland, CA Poor People’s Campaign, and CA Black Power Network. The audience will be actively involved with Q&A.

The forum will feature Joel Goza, a white theologian who has written a book, Rebirth of a Nation: Reparations and Remaking America. Dr. Goza is a professor at the Simmons College (HBCU) in Louisville, Kentucky who has been strongly endorsed by Dr. J. Alfred Smith, Sr. to help make the case for Black reparations.
